                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Gene Dulaney on the occasion of his retirement as judge of the
    1-3  132nd district court; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A native of Murray, Kentucky, Judge Dulaney was
    1-5  graduated as salutatorian from the Columbia Military Academy in
    1-6  1938; four years later, he was graduated magna cum laude from
    1-7  Vanderbilt University, where he majored in business administration;
    1-8  and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A patriotic and courageous American, he answered his
   1-10  nation's call to arms during World War II; after completing his
   1-11  course of study at Officers' Candidate School, he saw considerable
   1-12  action in the European Theater, demonstrating unflinching bravery
   1-13  in 50 aerial combat missions over Germany and Austria; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, After his return to civilian life, Judge Dulaney
   1-15  fulfilled his lifelong ambition of entering the legal profession,
   1-16  receiving his law degree from St. Mary's University School of Law
   1-17  in 1949; soon thereafter he opened a successful private practice in
   1-18  Snyder, Texas, where he and his wife have remained for nearly 45
   1-19  years; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, In 1964, he was named municipal judge for the city
   1-21  of Snyder, serving with distinction until he was elected district
   1-22  judge in 1984; during his 10-year tenure as district judge, this
   1-23  exceptional magistrate has won the respect and admiration of all
   1-24  those who have watched him preside; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, He also has devoted much of his life to community
    2-2  activities as a member of the Snyder school board, the Colorado
    2-3  River Municipal Water District, and the state Republican Executive
    2-4  Committee; a former commander of the local American Legion post,
    2-5  Judge Dulaney also has served on the board of the Scurry County
    2-6  Museum and was an active member of the Rotary Club for a
    2-7  quarter-century; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, In addition to his many professional and community
    2-9  activities, Judge Dulaney is also a devoted family man who enjoys a
   2-10  happy and successful marriage with his wife of 46 years, Mary, and
   2-11  who takes great pride in the accomplishments of their two children,
   2-12  John Dulaney and Mary Jean Stockton; and
   2-13        WHEREAS, For more than 50 years this fine gentleman has
   2-14  devoted himself to the betterment of his nation, state, and
   2-15  community, and his many outstanding achievements are indeed worthy
   2-16  of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-17        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-18  Legislature hereby commend the Honorable Gene Dulaney on the
   2-19  occasion of his retirement and extend to him and his wife, Mary,
   2-20  warmest best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be
   2-21  it further
   2-22        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-23  prepared for Judge Dulaney as an expression of high regard by the
   2-24  Texas House of Representatives.
