No. 225 74R5664 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Donna Marie Glenn of Dallas on 1-2 January 19, 1995, at the age of 24, has brought a great loss to the 1-3 many friends and relatives of this lovely young woman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The daughter of A. C. and Lillie Marie Glenn, she 1-5 was born November 1, 1970, and completed her early education in the 1-6 Dallas public school system, earning her high school diploma from 1-7 the Arts Magnet at Booker T. Washington High School; a bright and 1-8 articulate student, she continued her education at East Texas State 1-9 University, where she majored in elementary education; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Ms. Glenn also pursued her interest in the arts as a 1-11 member of "The Company" dance troupe at Mary Lois Sweatt's School 1-12 of Dance, where she delighted many audiences with her inspired 1-13 performances; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The qualities that endeared her to so many emanated 1-15 from a deep and abiding religious faith, a conviction which she 1-16 eloquently expressed in childhood as a member of St. Mark Baptist 1-17 Church and later as a devout member of Crest-Moore King United 1-18 Methodist Church; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Ms. Glenn was active in the church's youth club and 1-20 choir, served the congregation as Youth Announcement Clerk, and was 1-21 often called upon to recite poetry for special programs; in 1-22 recognition of the esteem in which she was held throughout the 1-23 religious community, she was crowned Ms. Crest-Moore King 1987-88; 1-24 and 2-1 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the love and 2-2 friendship of this exceptional young woman will long miss her 2-3 presence; though her life has been cut tragically short, her spirit 2-4 will surely live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched 2-5 for many years to come; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Donna Marie Glenn and 2-8 extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family: to her 2-9 beloved son, Alec Raynard; to her parents, A. C. and Lillie Glenn; 2-10 to her sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Glenn and Denise and Rudy 2-11 Hickman; to her brother, A. C. Glenn, Jr.; to her fiance, Dwayne 2-12 Gipson; to her aunt, Gwendolyn Turner; to her uncles, Aerrol Mapps 2-13 and Raymond Mapps; and to her many other friends and relatives; 2-14 and, be it further 2-15 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-16 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-17 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-18 Donna Marie Glenn.
