H.R. No. 228 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to 1-2 recognize the Lions football team of John Tyler High School in 1-3 Tyler, Texas, on winning the Class 5A, Division II championship; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, Exhibiting awesome talent and perseverance 1-6 throughout the year, the athletic director, the team players, and 1-7 the coaches deserve to be proud of their efforts and outstanding 1-8 performance; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership of Head Coach Allen 1-10 Wilson, the Lions had a perfect season with no losses; from there 1-11 they progressed to winning the division playoffs; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Their capture of the division championship 1-13 demonstrated the team members' winning spirit, discipline, and 1-14 courage; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The Lions' superb success is attributable to the 1-16 exceptional guidance of the coaching staff: Demetrio Hernandez, 1-17 Tom Collins, Billy Wilson, Kenneth Bickham, Randy Pool, Harold 1-18 Wright, Hardy Brunette, Lonny Hagan, Ray Giddens, Robert Qualls, 1-19 David Clapp, and Billy Blurton; managers, Kendrick Moss, Paul 1-20 Defoore, and Greg Champion; trainers, Todd Ford, Alexia Sirles, and 1-21 Roylena Stewart; and athletic trainer, Billy Laxton, and to the 1-22 competitive spirit that characterized the overall performances of 1-23 team members: sophomores, Ziyad Anderson, Gary Barter, Cartese 1-24 Black, Marlon Black, Torey Bledsoe, Jeremy Bowie, Cedrick Brooks, 2-1 Caleb Brown, Claude Brown, Derrick Dilworth, George Duncan, Stephen 2-2 Evans, Kelvin Fuller, Haven Gee, Keith Givens, Mario Guzman, Seneca 2-3 Henderson, Donnie Howard, Isai Iglesias, Royce Jamerson, Mickey 2-4 Jones, Kendell Kendrick, Porter Milton, Lamar Morgan, Michael 2-5 Oliver, Charles Payne, Christopher Reyes, Marcus Robinson, Devon 2-6 Rose, Calvin Sheffield, Cedrick Spencer, John Tennyson, David 2-7 Warren, Robert Williams, Jason Witt, and Jeremy Witt; juniors, 2-8 Jerrid Beal, Jason Borens, Nathan Bowie, Keith Buckner, Larinzol 2-9 Davis, Eric Derrett, Brandon Dillard, Ira Dunlap, Richardo Dunn, 2-10 Dameyon Evans, Brian Giddens, Steven Guzman, Kendrick Hartsfield, 2-11 Nicholas Hernandez, Kedrick Jackson, Alvin Johnson, Kendrick 2-12 Johnson, Keith Lee, Karanja Lewis, Rigoberto Lino, Nigel Love, 2-13 Timothy McGowen, Miguel Morales, Derrick Mosley, Clint Neely, Jose 2-14 Sandoval, Quincy Stewart, Quincy Watson, Justin Wheeler, Andre 2-15 Williams, Reginald Wilson, Cory Witherspoon, and Cameron Wynn; and 2-16 seniors, Morris Anderson, Kendrick Austin, Darwin Brown, Marc 2-17 Broyles, Marcus Cain, Roderick Dunn, DaRoyce Gee, Taafee Hines, 2-18 Raylon Horn, Nisan Nash, Demone Pierce, Michael Price, Jessie 2-19 Taylor, David Townsend, and Robert Williams; and 2-20 WHEREAS, These young athletes and the athletic department of 2-21 John Tyler High School have brought honor to themselves, John Tyler 2-22 High School, and the City of Tyler; the Lions are certainly worthy 2-23 of the recognition bestowed on them; now, therefore, be it 2-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-25 Legislature hereby congratulate the Lions of John Tyler High School 2-26 and their coaches, trainers, managers, and athletic director for 2-27 winning the Class 5A, Division II championship and express its best 3-1 wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further 3-2 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the 3-3 team members and the staff of the athletic department as an 3-4 expression of the high regard of the Texas House of 3-5 Representatives.
