                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans
    1-2  who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a
    1-3  memorable occasion worthy of special recognition; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Steve and Delta Boyd will commemorate one such
    1-5  golden event on May 24, 1995, when they celebrate 50 years of
    1-6  mutual affection and devotion; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, This loving couple met on a Greyhound bus in the
    1-8  waning days of  World War II, and the two were united in marriage
    1-9  on May 24, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Although now retired, Mr. Boyd successfully operated
   1-11  his own business, Worth Beauty Supply, for more than three decades,
   1-12  and he was ably supported in all his efforts by his devoted wife;
   1-13  and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The Boyds have consistently sought to bring aid to
   1-15  those in need, whether in their own community or in another land,
   1-16  and they have given freely of their time and energies to missionary
   1-17  activities in Honduras and at the Presbyterian Night Shelter; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Their marriage was blessed with seven fine children,
   1-19  each of whom benefited from the unfailing love and guidance
   1-20  provided by their parents, and the welcome addition of 14
   1-21  grandchildren and three great-grandchildren has further enriched
   1-22  this exceptional family's lives; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd have twice renewed their wedding
   1-24  vows, once at a marriage encounter in 1974 and 10 years later at
    2-1  Cana, Israel, during a trip to the Holy Land; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Known as avid travelers, the Boyds  throughout their
    2-3  marriage have shared their enthusiasm for seeing new sights and
    2-4  have visited all 50 states and many other countries together; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, The Boyds have earned the lasting regard and
    2-6  affection of their many friends and neighbors, and it is indeed
    2-7  appropriate that they be honored as they celebrate this significant
    2-8  milestone in their marriage; now, therefore, be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-10  Legislature hereby congratulate Steve and Delta Boyd on the
   2-11  momentous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to
   2-12  them sincere best wishes for continued happiness in the future;
   2-13  and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-15  prepared for Steve and Delta Boyd as an expression of high regard
   2-16  by the Texas House of Representatives.
