R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Edmund J. Womack, superintendent of the Hawley
1-2 Independent School District, will retire on June 15, 1995, after
1-3 many decades of exceptional service to the students, staff, and
1-4 residents of Hawley as an educator, role model, and community
1-5 leader; and
1-6 WHEREAS, This longtime educator began his distinguished
1-7 career as a coach and principal in Highland, where he quickly
1-8 earned the admiration of all who worked with him; later, he was
1-9 named superintendent of the Noodle school system, where he gained
1-10 renown for his exceptional talents as an administrator; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Mr. Womack came to the community of Hawley in 1965,
1-12 when he accepted a position as coach and curriculum director; this
1-13 man of many talents also took on the challenge of teaching driver
1-14 education to eager high school students; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Mr. Edd" within the
1-16 community, Mr. Womack was named principal of the Hawley elementary
1-17 school in 1978; bringing warmth, compassion, and integrity to his
1-18 work, this exceptional educator devoted the next 11 years to
1-19 providing the district's young students with the strong educational
1-20 foundation needed for future academic and professional success; and
1-21 WHEREAS, In June of 1989, Mr. Womack was designated
1-22 superintendent of the Hawley Independent School District, a
1-23 position that he has held for the past six years; during this time
1-24 he has won the respect of students, teachers, and parents alike for
2-1 his unwavering dedication to excellence in public education; and
2-2 WHEREAS, This outstanding individual is a true inspiration to
2-3 Texans everywhere who have devoted themselves to improving the
2-4 quality of education in this state, and his many exceptional
2-5 achievements are indeed worthy of special legislative recognition;
2-6 now, therefore, be it
2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
2-8 Legislature hereby congratulate Edmund J. Womack on the occasion of
2-9 his retirement as superintendent of the Hawley Independent School
2-10 District and extend to him warmest best wishes for continued
2-11 success and happiness in his future endeavors; and, be it further
2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13 prepared for Mr. Womack as an expression of high regard by the
2-14 Texas House of Representatives.
