H.R. No. 265 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Constable Bill C. Hancock on November 1-2 5, 1994, at the age of 72, has brought a great loss to the many 1-3 friends and relatives of this distinguished and public-spirited 1-4 Texan; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Hancock was a patriotic and courageous 1-6 individual who devoted much of his lifetime to serving his 1-7 countrymen; he joined the nation's armed forces in 1937, at the age 1-8 of 15, as a member of the United States Army E Troop 5th Cavalry 1-9 and went on to serve with the Air Force in New Guinea and Guam 1-10 during World War II; and 1-11 WHEREAS, He maintained his commitment to public service after 1-12 the war ended and distinguished himself throughout the San Antonio 1-13 community as constable of Precinct 3, where he served with valor 1-14 and integrity for 38 years; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Constable Hancock continued to make many significant 1-16 contributions to the field of law enforcement through his 1-17 noteworthy tenure as president of the Justices of the Peace and 1-18 Constables Association; and 1-19 WHEREAS, He led a full and active life, partaking of a 1-20 variety of leisure pursuits, including aviation, antique cars, and 1-21 ranching; he treasured the close friendships he had formed as a 1-22 life member of the Confederate Air Force and through his active 1-23 involvement with the Alamo Lodge No. 44 of the Ancient Free and 1-24 Accepted Masons, the Alzafar Shrine Temple, and the Texas A&M 12th 2-1 Man Association; and 2-2 WHEREAS, In recognition of his meritorious service to the 2-3 community, he was honored with numerous civic awards from the 2-4 Northeast Independent School District; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Constable Hancock was a man of great vision who 2-6 devoted much of his life to serving his community, and though his 2-7 presence will be deeply missed, his unique spirit will surely live 2-8 on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he 2-9 touched; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-11 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Constable Bill C. 2-12 Hancock and extend sincere sympathy to his beloved wife, Betty J. 2-13 Hancock, and to his many other friends and relatives; and, be it 2-14 further 2-15 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-16 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-17 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-18 Constable Bill C. Hancock.
