                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Jennifer Stork of San Antonio for the outstanding bravery she
    1-3  displayed at the scene of a terrifying tractor-trailer accident;
    1-4  and
    1-5        WHEREAS, During her senior year at MacArthur High School,
    1-6  Ms. Stork and several of her friends were returning from a Youth
    1-7  for Christ choir performance in Columbus when they witnessed the
    1-8  collision of two tractor-trailers on Interstate Highway 10, just
    1-9  southwest of Waelder in Gonzales County; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Ms. Stork immediately stopped her vehicle to render
   1-11  first aid and, without a moment's hesitation, joined Department of
   1-12  Public Safety Trooper Eddie Lopez in pulling an injured truck
   1-13  driver from the burning wreckage of his vehicle; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The two had no sooner transported the injured man to
   1-15  safety on the other side of the interstate when the truck was
   1-16  ripped by a series of explosions and completely engulfed in flames;
   1-17  and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Despite the inherent danger present in the aftermath
   1-19  of the explosions, Ms. Stork remained on the scene and continued to
   1-20  administer first aid to the wounded man; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, In recognition of her extraordinary bravery at the
   1-22  scene of the accident, Ms. Stork was honored with a Director's
   1-23  Citation from the Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas
   1-24  and with its receipt, she has further distinguished herself as the
    2-1  first citizen of San Antonio to be awarded the agency's highest
    2-2  civilian honor; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Jennifer Stork's composure and swift response in an
    2-4  emergency undoubtedly saved the injured truck driver from certain
    2-5  death and her exceptional act of heroism indeed merits our highest
    2-6  praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-8  Legislature hereby commend Jennifer Stork for her heroic actions
    2-9  during an emergency that resulted in the saving of a human life and
   2-10  congratulate her on being named the recipient of a Director's
   2-11  Citation from the Department of Public Safety of the State of
   2-12  Texas; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-14  prepared for Ms. Stork as an expression of highest regard by the
   2-15  Texas House of Representatives.
