R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
1-2 Jerry C. Larmay for her exemplary contributions to her community
1-3 as a businesswoman and civic leader; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Since assuming her duties as district manager for TU
1-5 Electric in 1991, Ms. Larmay has provided outstanding leadership as
1-6 the utility's primary director of customer service and marketing
1-7 operations for nine municipal areas in south Dallas County,
1-8 fostering excellent business relationships with the local
1-9 governments in her region; and
1-10 WHEREAS, She began her outstanding 30-year tenure with the
1-11 company in its telephone services department in 1965, and in
1-12 addition to establishing herself as an outstanding employee with
1-13 the company, she continued to pursue an interest in music, which
1-14 she had initially undertaken at Arlington State College and later
1-15 studied at the Munich Conservatory of Music; and
1-16 WHEREAS, She went on to serve as a supervisor in customer
1-17 operations for three years, during which time Ms. Larmay also
1-18 completed a bachelor's degree in business administration from The
1-19 University of Texas at Arlington; and
1-20 WHEREAS, Following her graduation in 1975, she was tapped for
1-21 positions of increasing responsibility within the company and
1-22 earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues for her adroit
1-23 management of employee benefits, government affairs, and customer
1-24 service, areas in which she gained invaluable experience for her
2-1 current role as a top manager for the company; and
2-2 WHEREAS, Ms. Larmay also has generously shared her
2-3 considerable leadership skills with the greater community, serving
2-4 on the board of a number of prominent local organizations,
2-5 including the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce, the Dallas/Fort
2-6 Worth Medical Center, the Dallas/Fort Worth Medical Foundation, and
2-7 the Grand Prairie Arts Council; and
2-8 WHEREAS, Chosen five times for the chairmanship of Leadership
2-9 Grand Prairie, this dynamic woman is a former president of Grand
2-10 Prairie Business & Professional Women, is the current president of
2-11 the Grand Prairie Rotary Club, and also heads the local YMCA,
2-12 having distinguished herself in the past through her leadership in
2-13 the association's successful capital drive and sustaining
2-14 membership drive; and
2-15 WHEREAS, The deserving recipient of many well-deserved
2-16 accolades for her notable civic and professional achievements,
2-17 Ms. Larmay has been honored as Volunteer of the Year by the city
2-18 and by the YMCA, and most recently she was named the 1993-1994
2-19 Member of the Year by the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce; and
2-20 WHEREAS, Despite the demanding schedule she sets for herself,
2-21 Ms. Larmay has continued to sing for enjoyment, delighting area
2-22 residents with her professionally trained voice and, in 1988,
2-23 captured the award for Best Vocalist in Summer Stock from the Grand
2-24 Prairie Community Theater; and
2-25 WHEREAS, Throughout three decades of extraordinary service
2-26 with TU Electric, Jerry C. Larmay has adhered to the highest
2-27 professional standards while greatly benefiting her community
3-1 through her active participation in civic affairs; in light of her
3-2 many accomplishments, this outstanding professional indeed merits
3-3 special praise and legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
3-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
3-5 Legislature hereby commend Jerry C. Larmay for her exceptional
3-6 career with TU Electric and her many significant contributions to
3-7 the citizens of Grand Prairie; and, be it further
3-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3-9 prepared for Ms. Larmay as an expression of highest regard by the
3-10 Texas House of Representatives.
