                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, On March 16, 1995, the many dedicated employees of
    1-2  KARLEE, Inc., will join with the mayor of Garland and other
    1-3  prominent local citizens to participate in a groundbreaking
    1-4  ceremony for the company's spacious new facility, and the occasion
    1-5  promises to be a memorable event for all concerned; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, KARLEE, Inc., is a woman-owned manufacturer that was
    1-7  founded on a shoestring in 1977 with a $1,100 loan used to purchase
    1-8  the plant's first piece of equipment, a used, manually operated
    1-9  milling machine; through hard work and determination the company
   1-10  prospered and developed into a thriving machine shop with 13
   1-11  employees and annual sales approaching three quarters of a million
   1-12  dollars within four short years; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, The company has since continued to experience rapid
   1-14  growth, employing more than 200 people and reporting sales of $13
   1-15  million in 1994; KARLEE, Inc., has become a leader in its
   1-16  manufacturing sector by delivering swift and quality service at a
   1-17  competitive cost, a combination that has earned it a loyal customer
   1-18  base consisting of some of America's foremost high-tech firms; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Tailoring its industrial processes to meet the
   1-20  unique needs of each customer, KARLEE, Inc., has successfully
   1-21  diversified into new areas such as sheet metal fabrication,
   1-22  welding, assembly, plating, and painting, and has won widespread
   1-23  acclaim within industry circles for its spotless, well-organized
   1-24  facilities that feature the best manufacturing equipment available
    2-1  on the market today; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Viewing people as its greatest asset, the company
    2-3  fosters a sense of pride and responsibility among its employees
    2-4  through an extensive in-house training program as well as flexible
    2-5  schedules and tuition reimbursement for those individuals who wish
    2-6  to further their education; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, This remarkable company has garnered many
    2-8  well-deserved accolades for excellence over the years from its
    2-9  peers in the business community; in 1994 alone, KARLEE, Inc., was
   2-10  honored by the United States Small Business Association, Abbott
   2-11  Laboratories, and Boeing Commercial, in addition to being named
   2-12  Ambassador of the Year by the Hogan Quality Consortium, of which it
   2-13  is a member; and
   2-14        WHEREAS, A solid corporate citizen that adheres to basic
   2-15  Christian values, KARLEE, Inc., has achieved notable success as a
   2-16  direct result of its dedicated employees' commitment to excellence,
   2-17  and it is indeed deserving of special legislative praise and
   2-18  recognition on the momentous occasion of its groundbreaking
   2-19  ceremony; now, therefore, be it
   2-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-21  Legislature hereby congratulate KARLEE, Inc., on its extraordinary
   2-22  success and commend the company's chairman, Lee Brumit, president,
   2-23  Jo Ann Brumit, and many fine employees for their exemplary
   2-24  contributions to the economic vitality of this state; and, be it
   2-25  further
   2-26        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-27  prepared for KARLEE, Inc., as an expression of high regard by the
    3-1  Texas House of Representatives.
