                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, March 19-22, 1995, marks the occasion of the sixth
    1-2  annual conference of the Texas Association of Public Employee
    1-3  Retirement Systems (TEXPERS) in Austin, and the members of this
    1-4  chamber take special pride in recognizing this fine group; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, TEXPERS is a voluntary, nonprofit educational
    1-6  association that was founded to unite and establish the public
    1-7  pension systems of Texas as a collective body; since its creation,
    1-8  the group has dedicated itself to protecting the rights of the
    1-9  public employees of Texas as well as the quality and strength of
   1-10  public pension systems throughout the state; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Associate members of TEXPERS who provide
   1-12  professional services to public pension funds include actuaries,
   1-13  consultants, custodians, law firms, money managers, and real estate
   1-14  advisors, and their expert direction has greatly improved the
   1-15  management and administration of Texas public retirement systems
   1-16  while helping to ensure their actuarial integrity; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, An important resource for information on retirement
   1-18  system administration, benefit designs, and federal programs,
   1-19  TEXPERS also sponsors a number of major forums for the discussion
   1-20  of state and national legislative issues affecting Texas pension
   1-21  systems, such as its biennial "A Day at the Capitol" program; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, This significant event affords governmental leaders
   1-23  the opportunity to meet with members of the association's
   1-24  investment, consulting, and actuarial communities to discuss a
    2-1  variety of timely issues affecting public funds today, and the
    2-2  organization is indeed deserving of special legislative recognition
    2-3  for its continuing efforts in this regard; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-5  Legislature hereby welcome the Texas Association of Public Employee
    2-6  Retirement Systems to the State Capitol and honor its dedicated
    2-7  board of directors and member systems for their outstanding
    2-8  accomplishments; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-10  prepared for TEXPERS as an expression of high regard by the Texas
   2-11  House of Representatives.
