                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Dr. Jack Haley is an esteemed physician whose myriad
    1-2  contributions to his profession have had a profound impact on the
    1-3  field of medical education in Texas; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Houston, Dr. Haley
    1-5  earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical
    1-6  Branch at Galveston and is a longtime resident of Houston, where he
    1-7  serves as a clinical professor with the Department of Family
    1-8  Practice at The University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center;
    1-9  and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Dr. Haley was instrumental in the creation of the
   1-11  Family Practice Residency Advisory Committee by the 65th
   1-12  Legislature in 1977 and has served as a vital member of the
   1-13  committee for nearly two decades, helping to ensure that Texas will
   1-14  remain the site of some of the finest family practice residency
   1-15  training programs available in the nation; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, For more than 15 years, this respected gentleman
   1-17  also has given generously of his time and talents as the
   1-18  coordinator of the Texas Statewide Preceptorship Program, which he
   1-19  helped to found; in this capacity, Dr. Haley oversees the pairing
   1-20  of medical students with family physicians from throughout the
   1-21  state for a month of in-office training to give students greater
   1-22  insight into the manner in which doctors practice in the real
   1-23  world; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, A recognized leader in the medical community, Dr.
    2-1  Haley has additionally served his profession as president of the
    2-2  Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP), through his leadership
    2-3  as the chair of numerous TAFP committees, as a delegate to the
    2-4  American Academy of Family Physicians, and as an active member of
    2-5  the Texas Medical Association; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, Despite his demanding schedule, this fine gentleman
    2-7  has graciously volunteered to serve as doctor of the day for the
    2-8  members of this chamber on March 1, 1995, and it is a privilege to
    2-9  recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-11  Legislature hereby honor Dr. Jack Haley for his outstanding
   2-12  contributions to medical education in Texas and commend him for his
   2-13  admirable service to the house as doctor of the day; and, be it
   2-14  further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-16  prepared for Dr. Haley as an expression of high regard by the Texas
   2-17  House of Representatives.
