                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas Rocchio recently resigned as
    1-2  mayor of Edcouch, thus ending the most recent chapter in a long
    1-3  career of community service to his friends and neighbors in South
    1-4  Texas; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Highly regarded by his constituents as a caring and
    1-6  knowledgeable leader in city government, Mr. Rocchio was elected to
    1-7  serve two terms as mayor; he previously had earned the respect and
    1-8  admiration of local voters as a distinguished member of the Edcouch
    1-9  City Commission for four years; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, This esteemed community leader has dedicated much of
   1-11  his time and energy to fostering economic growth in the South Texas
   1-12  region; he helped to establish the Delta Area Economic Development
   1-13  Corporation, and he further contributed his expertise and business
   1-14  acumen to the new organization as a board member and chairman; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, An active supporter of the Rio Grande Valley's Rural
   1-16  Empowerment Zone, he also has served as chairman of the Hidalgo
   1-17  County Urban County organization; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, For many years, Mr. Rocchio has worked tirelessly
   1-19  for the betterment of his community and state; his efforts have
   1-20  greatly enhanced the quality of life for countless fellow Texans
   1-21  and indeed merit special recognition by the members of this
   1-22  chamber; now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-24  Legislature hereby commend the Honorable Thomas Rocchio for his
    2-1  many years of outstanding service to his community and extend to
    2-2  him warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness in all
    2-3  his future endeavors; and, be it further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-5  prepared for Mr. Rocchio as an expression of high regard by the
    2-6  Texas House of Representatives.
