                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The death of Charles F. Campau on June 26, 1994, at
    1-2  the age of 80, has been a great loss to his many friends and
    1-3  relatives and to the community of construction workers he served so
    1-4  well; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the Fort Worth metropolitan
    1-6  area, Mr. Campau was a World War II combat veteran who
    1-7  distinguished himself as a leader in Tarrant County organized
    1-8  labor; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Beginning a rewarding association of 53 years, he
   1-10  joined Carpenters Local No.  429 and rose through the ranks by his
   1-11  hard work and astute leadership to become president and business
   1-12  representative of the union; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Mr. Campau also worked with the Fort Worth Building
   1-14  and Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO, and eloquently expressed
   1-15  the concerns of labor as that group's executive secretary; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Among the most important accomplishments realized
   1-17  during his exceptional tenure were successful negotiations that
   1-18  guaranteed construction of Dallas/Fort Worth Airport without
   1-19  interruption by labor strife; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Mr. Campau was a man of great vision who dedicated
   1-21  much of his life to improving the working conditions of countless
   1-22  north central Texans; though his special presence will be missed by
   1-23  all who knew him, his spirit will surely live on in the hearts and
   1-24  minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be
    2-1  it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-3  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Charles F. Campau and
    2-4  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to his
    2-5  beloved wife, Beatrice Lewis Campau; to his son, Charles Lewis
    2-6  Campau; to his four daughters, Lanell Scheu, Susie Williams, Patsy
    2-7  Yoder, and Ella Dean; to his nine grandchildren; and to his many
    2-8  other friends and relatives; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-10  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
   2-11  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-12  Charles F. Campau.
