                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Betty deGoumois was recently honored in a
    1-2  "Celebration of Life" reception held at the Rebekah Baines Johnson
    1-3  Retirement Center as one of a number of remarkable women ranging in
    1-4  age from 90 to 98 who have not only lived life, but have embraced
    1-5  it to the fullest; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, She was born on February 25, 1896, in Boston,
    1-7  Massachusetts, and is of French-Irish descent; Mrs. deGoumois grew
    1-8  up in a New York show business family and became a gifted dancer
    1-9  who performed with the Ziegfeld Follies and was one of the original
   1-10  flappers; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, She married a Wall Street broker and the fortunate
   1-12  couple was later blessed with a fine family; though she lived much
   1-13  of her life on the East Coast, Mrs. deGoumois moved to Texas in the
   1-14  early 1980s at the insistence of her daughter and has since
   1-15  embraced the culture and flavor of Texas with all the enthusiasm
   1-16  and pride of a native; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Blessed with a wealth of interests and an engaging
   1-18  personality, Mrs. deGoumois is currently compiling a book about the
   1-19  people at the center and is working on a play; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Betty deGoumois is a beloved member of her community
   1-21  whose kindness, warmth, and generosity have touched the lives of
   1-22  countless people, and it is a privilege to recognize her at this
   1-23  time; now, therefore, be it
   1-24        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-1  Legislature hereby honor Betty deGoumois and extend warmest best
    2-2  wishes to her for continued good fortune and happiness; and, be it
    2-3  further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-5  prepared for Mrs. deGoumois as an expression of highest regard by
    2-6  the Texas House of Representatives.
