                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Helen Church was recently honored in a "Celebration
    1-2  of Life" reception held at the Rebekah Baines Johnson Retirement
    1-3  Center as one of a number of remarkable women ranging in age from
    1-4  90 to 98 who have not only lived life but have embraced it to the
    1-5  fullest; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Born on April 16, 1901, in Newport, Rhode Island,
    1-7  she learned the value of hard work from an early age as one of 28
    1-8  children in her family, each of whom was born a year apart; despite
    1-9  growing up in an inordinately large family, the diminutive
   1-10  Mrs. Church at 4 feet 11 inches tall managed to stand out among her
   1-11  siblings, who ranged in height from between 5 feet 10 inches to 6
   1-12  feet 11 inches; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, The day after she was graduated from high school,
   1-14  Mrs. Church married and was soon blessed with a loving family of
   1-15  her own;  she lived in Florida for a number of years before moving
   1-16  to Texas at the insistence of her son and since her arrival has
   1-17  embraced the culture and flavor of Texas with all the enthusiasm
   1-18  and pride of a native; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, An inspiration to all who know her, Mrs. Church is a
   1-20  bicycling enthusiast who enjoyed the sport for many years and even
   1-21  participated in marathons until her son took her three bikes away
   1-22  from her when she was 91; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, When asked what advice she would pass on to the
   1-24  younger generation, Mrs. Church responded with these words, "Think
    2-1  good thoughts, don't worry, and think young," a philosophy that has
    2-2  indeed served her well throughout the years; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Helen Church is a beloved member of her community
    2-4  whose kindness, warmth, and generosity have touched the lives of
    2-5  countless people, and it is a privilege to recognize her at this
    2-6  time; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-8  Legislature hereby honor Helen Church and extend warmest best
    2-9  wishes to her for continued good fortune and happiness; and, be it
   2-10  further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-12  prepared for Mrs. Church as an expression of highest regard by the
   2-13  Texas House of Representatives.
