                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Alta Russell was recently honored in a "Celebration
    1-2  of Life" reception held at the Rebekah Baines Johnson Retirement
    1-3  Center as one of a number of remarkable women ranging in age from
    1-4  90 to 98 who have not only lived life, but have embraced it to the
    1-5  fullest; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Born on July 28, 1904, in Pana, Illinois, she spent
    1-7  much of her adult life in Illinois but came south in 1964 to be
    1-8  near her daughter and, over the course of the past three decades,
    1-9  has embraced the culture and flavor of Texas with the enthusiasm
   1-10  and pride of a native Texan; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Mrs. Russell has enjoyed a varied career, working as
   1-12  a sales clerk in department stores, doing alterations, and serving
   1-13  as a lunchroom cashier at Sacred Heart School, while still finding
   1-14  time to create precious, one-of-a-kind craft projects with her
   1-15  crocheting; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, When asked to reflect on her life, Mrs. Russell
   1-17  responded with these words, "I work hard.  And I guess I'm just
   1-18  from good stock," a sentiment that would certainly be shared by all
   1-19  who have been privileged to share her love throughout the years;
   1-20  and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Alta Russell is a beloved member of her community
   1-22  whose kindness, warmth, and generosity have touched the lives of
   1-23  countless people, and it is a privilege to recognize her at this
   1-24  time; now, therefore, be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-2  Legislature hereby honor Alta Russell and extend warmest best
    2-3  wishes to her for continued good fortune and happiness; and, be it
    2-4  further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-6  prepared for Mrs. Russell as an expression of highest regard by the
    2-7  Texas House of Representatives.
