                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Effie Leonard was recently honored in a "Celebration
    1-2  of Life" reception held at the Rebekah Baines Johnson Retirement
    1-3  Center as one of a number of remarkable women ranging in age from
    1-4  90 to 98 who have not only lived life, but have embraced it to the
    1-5  fullest; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A native Texan, she was born in Orange on September
    1-7  30, 1904, and remained a lifelong resident of the state she is
    1-8  proud to call home; throughout her adult life, she has kept busy
    1-9  with various positions that have included clerking and baby-sitting
   1-10  and has balanced those duties with the work she has always kept
   1-11  closest to her heart, serving as a committed volunteer both at the
   1-12  center and at other places where she was needed; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Today, Ms. Leonard remains a friend to all, and
   1-14  still enjoys engaging in her favorite hobbies, sewing and cooking;
   1-15  when asked to reflect on her life, she responded, "I really like
   1-16  people and have always been a friendly person who helped others," a
   1-17  philosophy that has earned her a special place in the hearts of all
   1-18  who have been privileged to share her love throughout the years;
   1-19  and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Effie Leonard is a beloved member of her community
   1-21  whose kindness, warmth, and generosity have touched the lives of
   1-22  countless people, and it is a privilege to recognize her at this
   1-23  time; now, therefore, be it
   1-24        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-1  Legislature hereby honor Effie Leonard and extend warmest best
    2-2  wishes to her for continued good fortune and happiness; and, be it
    2-3  further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-5  prepared for Ms. Leonard as an expression of highest regard by the
    2-6  Texas House of Representatives.
