                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Louise Bradshaw was recently honored in a
    1-2  "Celebration of Life" reception held at the Rebekah Baines Johnson
    1-3  Retirement Center as one of a number of remarkable women ranging in
    1-4  age from 90 to 98 who have not only lived life, but have embraced
    1-5  it to the fullest; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Mrs. Bradshaw was born on September 1, 1902, in Reed
    1-7  Wood, Mississippi, and first came to Texas as a young woman to
    1-8  visit her brother; during her stay in Texas City, she met a Texan
    1-9  whom she would later marry, and in the ensuing years, she has
   1-10  embraced the culture and flavor of Texas with the enthusiasm and
   1-11  pride of a native; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, In addition to keeping a lovely home for the
   1-13  couple's three children, Mrs. Bradshaw enjoyed a successful career
   1-14  as the chief operator for a telephone and telegraph company and
   1-15  worked on telephone systems at a newspaper and a number of hotels;
   1-16  and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Her ability to cheerfully balance the demands of
   1-18  career and family throughout much of her adult life can be
   1-19  attributed in part to the relaxing activities she pursued during
   1-20  her leisure hours; an adept bridge player for many years, she
   1-21  continues to enjoy yard work and growing her beautiful African
   1-22  violets; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, When asked to reflect on her life, Mrs. Bradshaw
   1-24  responded with these words, "Live today and let tomorrow take care
    2-1  of itself.  Do the best that you can today," a simple philosophy
    2-2  that has indeed served her well throughout the years; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Louise Bradshaw is a beloved member of her community
    2-4  whose kindness, warmth, and generosity have touched the lives of
    2-5  countless people, and it is a privilege to recognize her at this
    2-6  time; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-8  Legislature hereby honor Louise Bradshaw and extend warmest best
    2-9  wishes to her for continued good fortune and happiness; and, be it
   2-10  further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-12  prepared for Mrs. Bradshaw as an expression of highest regard by
   2-13  the Texas House of Representatives.
