No. 325 74R6401 PAN-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Lola Mae Daniel was recently honored in a 1-2 "Celebration of Life" reception held at the Rebekah Baines Johnson 1-3 Retirement Center as one of a number of remarkable women ranging in 1-4 age from 90 to 98 who have not only lived life, but have embraced 1-5 it to the fullest; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Born on September 22, 1902, in Stephenville, she has 1-7 traveled extensively throughout much of her adult life, serving as 1-8 a missionary teacher in Taiwan for many years and teaching English 1-9 to students in China while in her eighties; closer to home, 1-10 Ms. Daniel served as the dean of boys at the San Marcos Baptist 1-11 Academy for five years and continues to maintain an active 1-12 professional life as a counselor at Howard Payne College in 1-13 Brownwood; and 1-14 WHEREAS, A popular public speaker, Ms. Daniel also has 1-15 authored her autobiography, Never Too Late, and is currently at 1-16 work on a second book, Through the Red Gate, which details her 1-17 experiences living in China; and 1-18 WHEREAS, When asked to reflect on her life, Ms. Daniel 1-19 responded with these words, "My life has been spent trying to help 1-20 other people," a sentiment that has earned her a special place in 1-21 the hearts of all who have been privileged to share her friendship 1-22 through the years; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Lola Mae Daniel is a beloved member of her community 1-24 whose kindness, warmth, and generosity have touched the lives of 2-1 countless people, and it is a privilege to recognize her at this 2-2 time; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby honor Lola Mae Daniel and extend warmest best 2-5 wishes to her for continued good fortune and happiness; and, be it 2-6 further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Ms. Daniel as an expression of highest regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
