                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The passing of Alfie Johnson Laws on February 25,
    1-2  1995, at the age of 87, has brought a great loss to the many
    1-3  friends and relatives of this beloved woman; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A native Texan, she was born August 17, 1907, in
    1-5  Austin to Robert L. and Annie Meyer Johnson; she later met and
    1-6  married Alton B. Laws, Sr., her devoted husband, with whom she
    1-7  shared nearly 50 years of mutual love and affection; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Mrs. Laws was a dedicated homemaker and loving wife
    1-9  and mother, bringing joy and happiness into the lives of her
   1-10  family, who regarded her as an unfailing source of affection and
   1-11  inspiration; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, She made many friends over the years through her
   1-13  half-century involvement in the Creedmoor Extension Homemakers Club
   1-14  and took great delight in showering her friends and family with
   1-15  crochet and macrame gifts she had lovingly crafted; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Alfie Johnson Laws was a warm and spirited woman who
   1-17  touched the lives of many people during her years on this earth;
   1-18  though her presence will be deeply missed, her memory will live on
   1-19  in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have shared her
   1-20  special love and friendship through the years; now, therefore, be
   1-21  it
   1-22        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-23  Legislature hereby honor the memory of Alfie Johnson Laws and
   1-24  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
    2-1  children, Alton B. Laws, Jr., and Kathryn Norwood; to her brother,
    2-2  Solomon Wilson Johnson; to her daughter-in-law and son-in-law,
    2-3  Joyce Laws and Lester Norwood; to her grandchildren, Carroll
    2-4  Norwood, Alton B. Laws III, Larry Laws, Linda Laws Cooper, and
    2-5  Leslie Kennedy; to her great-grandchildren; and to her many other
    2-6  friends and relatives; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
    2-8  for members of her family and that when the Texas House of
    2-9  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alfie
   2-10  Johnson Laws.
