H.R. No. 340 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On March 7, 1995, Seagoville Day will be celebrated 1-2 at the State Capitol by the proud citizens of Seagoville in 1-3 recognition of their illustrious town and its contributions to the 1-4 State of Texas; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Founded in 1876, the town was originally named Seago 1-6 after T. K. Seago, the gentleman who cleared his land of timber and 1-7 built the first store in town; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The first official plat of the city was recorded in 1-9 the Dallas County Deed Records in 1883; in 1910, the post office 1-10 added the "ville" to Seago and the name officially became 1-11 Seagoville; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The town was founded in the middle of the blackland 1-13 soil and was perfect for agricultural use; today, Seagoville 1-14 retains a small-town feeling while attracting vital businesses to 1-15 the area; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The citizens and leaders of Seagoville, Mayor Neal 1-17 Wooley and Chamber of Commerce President Jim Kimbell, take pride in 1-18 the Seagoville High School Fightin' Dragons and keeping that 1-19 small-town atmosphere alive; and 1-20 WHEREAS, The residents of Seagoville are proud of their 1-21 community, and being located in the southeast corner of Dallas 1-22 County gives Seagoville access to all the cultural and sporting 1-23 activities and advantages of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex; and 1-24 WHEREAS, "Home of the Post Oak Preserve," Seagoville has 2-1 seven parks, tennis facilities, a public swimming pool, a senior 2-2 citizens center, and two youth centers; and 2-3 WHEREAS, The residents of Seagoville are understandably proud 2-4 of their town and its surroundings; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby extend best wishes to the citizens of Seagoville 2-7 for an outstanding Seagoville Day; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the 2-9 City of Seagoville as a memento of this special day and as an 2-10 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
