                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great
    1-2  pleasure in honoring Logan Johnson, a 17-year-old resident of
    1-3  Dallas whose selfless actions saved the life of a man he had never
    1-4  met; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Newly employed as a delivery driver for Campisi's
    1-6  Take-Out, Mr. Johnson was driving on Campbell Road on the evening
    1-7  of February 20, 1995, when he saw a car swerve off the street and
    1-8  plunge into the icy waters of a nearby pond; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Immediately realizing the gravity of the situation,
   1-10  this exceptional young man quickly pulled off the road and
   1-11  discovered that a man was trapped inside the vehicle; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Disregarding his own safety, Mr. Johnson dove into
   1-13  the bitterly cold water and swam 50 yards to pull the Reverend John
   1-14  Kershaw from the sinking vehicle and then helped the weakened man
   1-15  to shore; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, This extraordinary act of unflinching bravery not
   1-17  only has saved the life of Reverend Kershaw, but has transformed
   1-18  the life of Mr. Johnson as well, giving this courageous young Texan
   1-19  a new perspective on the important role his actions play in the
   1-20  lives of those around him; now, therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-22  Legislature hereby commend Logan Johnson for his exceptional act of
   1-23  heroism and for the rare maturity and composure he has displayed in
   1-24  the face of grave danger; and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-2  prepared for Mr. Johnson as an expression of gratitude and highest
    2-3  esteem by the Texas House of Representatives.
