H.R. No. 346 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The recent passing of Adolfo D. "A. D." Raymond, 1-2 Sr., on January 25, 1995, at the age of 81, has deeply saddened the 1-3 many friends and relatives of this esteemed resident of Duval 1-4 County; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Raymond was born on July 7, 1-6 1913, in the historic community of Laredo, and learned the value of 1-7 hard work and dedication in his youth, having come of age during 1-8 the difficult years of the Great Depression; and 1-9 WHEREAS, He enjoyed a happy and rewarding marriage of many 1-10 years duration with his devoted wife, Rebecca, until her passing in 1-11 1983, and raised a fine family of three sons in Duval County, where 1-12 he distinguished himself as a dedicated employee of Texaco, Inc., 1-13 over the course of an outstanding 43-year tenure with the company; 1-14 and 1-15 WHEREAS, Endowed with a rugged spirit, Mr. Raymond had a 1-16 lifelong appreciation for the dense brush country and rich 1-17 agricultural land of the Rio Grande region where he was reared; in 1-18 addition to his employment in the oil and gas industry, he was 1-19 involved in farming and ranching throughout his lifetime and was a 1-20 familiar sight in the local community attired in his favorite 1-21 cowboy hat and pair of boots; and 1-22 WHEREAS, A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, 1-23 Mr. Raymond was an unfailing source of love and support to the 1-24 members of his close-knit family, and a special source of 2-1 inspiration to his grandson, our esteemed colleague, Representative 2-2 Richard Raymond, with whom he resided during the final years of his 2-3 life; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Adolfo D. "A. D." Raymond, Sr., was an extraordinary 2-5 individual who cherished his family and his fellowman and made 2-6 valuable use of his precious time on this earth by making a 2-7 positive difference in the lives of others; though his presence is 2-8 gone from us now, the memory of this remarkable gentleman will 2-9 continue to endure in the hearts of all who were privileged to know 2-10 him for many years to come; now, therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-12 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Adolfo D. "A. D." 2-13 Raymond, Sr., and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his 2-14 family: to his sons, Gabriel Raymond, Adolfo Raymond, Jr., and 2-15 Ronald Raymond; to his 10 grandchildren, including State 2-16 Representative Richard Raymond; to his five great-grandchildren; 2-17 and to the many other friends and relatives of this fine man; and, 2-18 be it further 2-19 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-20 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-21 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-22 Adolfo D. "A. D." Raymond, Sr.
