                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, George Ryan Marvin of Scout Troop 80 in Dallas
    1-2  received well-deserved recognition on January 24, 1995, when he was
    1-3  awarded the coveted silver insignia denoting his attainment of the
    1-4  rank of Eagle Scout; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Earning the right to wear this prestigious silver
    1-6  badge denoting an Eagle Scout is a truly significant accomplishment
    1-7  and indeed represents the highest honor to which a scout can
    1-8  aspire; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Active in scouting for several years and steadily
   1-10  working his way up through the ranks, this exceptional young man
   1-11  has amply proven his worthiness of this great honor by exemplifying
   1-12  scouting's highest ideals and persevering in the pursuit of his
   1-13  goals with noteworthy dedication; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, In addition to earning numerous merit badges by
   1-15  demonstrating his knowledge and mastery of skills in a wide range
   1-16  of fields, Eagle Scout Marvin has served his fellow scouts in Troop
   1-17  80 in a variety of positions of responsibility, thereby
   1-18  demonstrating the outstanding leadership ability that is the
   1-19  hallmark of all Eagle Scouts; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, His superb record of achievement in scouting is
   1-21  matched by the equally impressive accomplishments that have
   1-22  characterized his involvement at school and in the community, where
   1-23  he has applied the habits and values developed through his
   1-24  participation in scouting activities to excel in all of his
    2-1  endeavors; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, A junior at Highland Park High School, he has
    2-3  distinguished himself as an outstanding scholar, having made the A
    2-4  honor roll every year since first grade, and as an excellent
    2-5  athlete, competing on the school's golf and swim teams;  he also
    2-6  has demonstrated remarkable proficiency as a promising young
    2-7  photographer, and his work has been shown at exhibits in Fort Worth
    2-8  and Austin; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, Talented, hardworking, and dedicated, Eagle Scout
   2-10  Marvin has been a great source of pride to his parents and an
   2-11  inspiration to his fellow scouts in Troop 80, and his achievements
   2-12  in scouting are indeed worthy of special praise and recognition;
   2-13  now, therefore, be it
   2-14        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-15  Legislature hereby congratulate George Ryan Marvin on his
   2-16  noteworthy accomplishment in attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and
   2-17  earning the right to wear the silver insignia symbolic of his
   2-18  superior achievements as a member of the Boy Scouts of America;
   2-19  and, be it further
   2-20        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-21  prepared for Eagle Scout Marvin as an expression of high esteem by
   2-22  the Texas House of Representatives.
