By Alexander H.R. No. 381 74R7775 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 the Reverend Dairy G. Johnson, Sr., on the occasion of his 10th 1-3 anniversary as pastor of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in 1-4 Corsicana; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native of that community, he was graduated from 1-6 Southern Bible Institute of Dallas in 1987 and furthered his 1-7 studies in Christian education by earning a master of theology 1-8 degree from Guadalupe College Theological Seminary in 1992; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This dedicated clergyman began his pastorage at 1-10 Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in 1985, and for the past 1-11 decade has offered comfort and spiritual guidance to his growing 1-12 congregation; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Well regarded throughout the ministry, Reverend 1-14 Johnson has gone on to serve the members of his religious community 1-15 in a variety of ways and has ministered at several of the 1-16 denomination's area meetings, including the area youth conventions 1-17 held by the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas and the 1-18 National Missionary Baptist Convention of America; and 1-19 WHEREAS, In addition, he currently is serving in his fourth 1-20 term as president of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance 1-21 of Navarro County and is vice president of the Rising Star 1-22 Institutional Missionary Baptist General Association, where he also 1-23 is active on the scholarship committee; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to social concerns, Reverend 2-1 Johnson has positively affected a number of issues that are vital 2-2 to the health and well-being of his community through his service 2-3 to the Martin Luther Center, the Bank One Community Advisory Board, 2-4 the Navarro County Health Board, and the City of Corsicana Planning 2-5 and Zoning Board; a man of boundless energies and enthusiasm, he 2-6 also publishes an award-winning community newspaper; and 2-7 WHEREAS, In recognition of his exemplary service to the 2-8 Corsicana community, he was bestowed the Humanitarian Award by his 2-9 fellow clergymen and also was honored with the Black 2-10 Entrepreneurship Award; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Reverend Johnson and his wife, Ellender P. Johnson, 2-12 share the joy of four cherished children, Tiffany Johnson, 2-13 Elizabeth Johnson, Dairy Johnson, Jr., and Jeremy McDonald; and 2-14 WHEREAS, In Reverend Johnson, the congregation of this church 2-15 has found both a preacher and a stalwart friend for the work of the 2-16 ministry; his religious guidance has provided comfort and spiritual 2-17 support to countless individuals, and he is indeed worthy of our 2-18 highest praise and recognition as he celebrates 10 years of service 2-19 to his church; now, therefore, be it 2-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-21 Legislature hereby honor the Reverend Dairy G. Johnson, Sr., and 2-22 extend to him warmest best wishes on the occasion of his 10th 2-23 anniversary as pastor of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church; and, 2-24 be it further 2-25 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-26 prepared for Reverend Johnson as an expression of high esteem by 2-27 the Texas House of Representatives.
