                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Under the spirited direction of Francisco Javier
    1-2  Sosa II, the Mariachi Los Tigres del Sur has won the hearts of
    1-3  audiences across the nation; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, This exceptional group includes talented students
    1-5  from the band, choir, and orchestra at Martin High School in Laredo
    1-6  who have devoted countless hours to developing authentic vocal
    1-7  techniques, instrumental skills, and stage presence; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Dressed in their spectacular charro costumes, these
    1-9  energetic young musicians have devoted themselves to preserving the
   1-10  rich history and tradition of mariachi music for future generations
   1-11  of Texans; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The Mariachi Los Tigres del Sur has performed at
   1-13  many important civic and educational events, including the Texas
   1-14  Bandmasters Convention, the Texas State School Board and
   1-15  Superintendent Convention, and the National Civic League
   1-16  Convention, and have won numerous awards in state competitions; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, The Tigers of the South have benefited greatly from
   1-18  the tireless efforts of Mr. Sosa, a former student director of the
   1-19  Mariachi Javelina at Texas A&M University at Kingsville; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, The Martin High School mariachi has made many
   1-21  notable contributions toward preserving an important aspect of
   1-22  Texas' cultural heritage, and it is indeed appropriate that it be
   1-23  given special legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore,
   1-24  be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-2  Legislature hereby commend the director and members of the Martin
    2-3  High School Mariachi Los Tigres del Sur for their outstanding
    2-4  musical accomplishments; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-6  prepared for display in a prominent location at Martin High School
    2-7  as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
    2-8  Representatives.
