                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Luis de la Garza has greatly enhanced athletic
    1-2  opportunity for the youth of South Texas through his many years of
    1-3  outstanding service as a volunteer for the Border Olympics; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, This notable Laredo resident and sports enthusiast
    1-5  has contributed his considerable expertise to the Border Olympics
    1-6  for more than a quarter-century, primarily working as a volunteer
    1-7  in the triple jump competition; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, In recognition of his continuing contributions to
    1-9  the conduct of this event, he was recently chosen as the recipient
   1-10  of the Mule Frazier award; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Athletic endeavor serves as an important means of
   1-12  expression for many young Texans, providing them an opportunity to
   1-13  achieve and excel, and the Border Olympics is an ideal event for
   1-14  such healthy competition; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Those individuals who give freely of their time and
   1-16  talents to the betterment of their fellowman serve as inspirational
   1-17  figures to all who know them, and their many exceptional
   1-18  accomplishments are indeed worthy of special legislative
   1-19  recognition; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-21  Legislature hereby congratulate Luis de la Garza on the honor
   1-22  bestowed on him as recipient of the Mule Frazier award and commend
   1-23  him for his exemplary efforts in behalf of the Border Olympics;
   1-24  and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-2  prepared for Mr. de la Garza as an expression of high regard by the
    2-3  Texas House of Representatives.
