                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Cleburne High School Yellowjackets girls'
    1-2  basketball team has reached the pinnacle of success by winning the
    1-3  1995 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 4A state
    1-4  championship; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, After completing the regular season as District 6-4A
    1-6  champions, the Yellowjackets set their sights on the state
    1-7  tournament, battling their way to the Region 1 finals against
    1-8  third-ranked Levelland High School; the Cleburne squad won the
    1-9  contest in dramatic fashion, with All-state guard Kim Lummus
   1-10  sinking a three-point goal as time expired to claim the 61-60
   1-11  victory; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Cleburne took the floor at the Frank C. Erwin
   1-13  Special Events Center in Austin in a state tournament semifinal
   1-14  matchup against Dallas Lincoln High School, and again the
   1-15  Yellowjackets would not be denied, winning 50-49 to claim a coveted
   1-16  spot in the title game; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Demonstrating the championship spirit that has
   1-18  sustained the team throughout the season, Cleburne downed highly
   1-19  regarded Silsbee High School 55-50 to take the state title and
   1-20  complete the season with an impressive record of 36 victories
   1-21  against only two defeats; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, The season's outstanding achievements were a result
   1-23  of total team effort from members Mary Rochelle, Kalani Ross,
   1-24  DeAnne Fagan, Kelli Tull, Wendie Bullard, Lily Glick, Amy Yates,
    2-1  Melanie Oppel, Kim Lummus, Brei Silvia, Amy Lavender, Kristen
    2-2  Shewmake, and Megan Parker; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Head coach Judy Brown instilled in her charges an
    2-4  unquenchable will to win, and she was ably supported in her efforts
    2-5  by assistant coaches Paige Younger and Bill Rehl; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young women and their
    2-7  coaches and staff have been a tremendous source of pride to the
    2-8  students and faculty at Cleburne High School and their many
    2-9  supporters in the community, and their outstanding achievements are
   2-10  truly worthy of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be
   2-11  it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-13  Legislature hereby congratulate the Cleburne High School
   2-14  Yellowjackets girls' basketball team on winning the 1995 UIL Class
   2-15  4A state basketball championship and extend to the players and
   2-16  coaches best wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it
   2-17  further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-19  for the team members and coaching staff and that a copy be prepared
   2-20  for prominent display at Cleburne High School as an expression of
   2-21  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
