                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Recognizing that parenting may be the most difficult
    1-2  job in our society, members of the La Feria Parental Awareness
    1-3  League have come together in an effort to support, encourage, and
    1-4  advise fellow parents in their community; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, This outstanding group strives to promote parental
    1-6  participation in education, in the community, and in the political
    1-7  process; by soliciting the input and opinions of all parents, the
    1-8  group hopes to ensure that policies and laws are established that
    1-9  are truly in the best interests of Texas children and families; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Established in July 1994, the La Feria Parental
   1-11  Awareness League brings together individuals from all walks of life
   1-12  who are united in their commitment to improve the quality of life
   1-13  for the children of their community; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Under the guidance of the executive committee, which
   1-15  is composed of Presidents Balde and Irene Trevino, Vice Presidents
   1-16  Pancho and Rosie Cobarrubias, Secretaries Al and Mary Guillen, and
   1-17  Treasurers Joel and Jeanette Villalon, the group holds monthly
   1-18  meetings that include dinner as well as informative speakers, thus
   1-19  giving members an opportunity to exchange information and ideas in
   1-20  a relaxed, supportive environment; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, In addition to working with parents, the league
   1-22  raises scholarship funds for deserving students and promotes
   1-23  awareness of financial aid opportunities for students wishing to
   1-24  continue their schooling; by encouraging young people to further
    2-1  their education, the league is helping them to prepare now for a
    2-2  better future, and this benefits the community as well as the
    2-3  students; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, A well-known African proverb states that it takes an
    2-5  entire village to raise one child, and by offering their support
    2-6  and guidance to all the parents of their community, the members of
    2-7  the La Feria Parental Awareness League have demonstrated their
    2-8  commitment to all the children of their city; in doing so, they
    2-9  have established a model program for others to emulate, and they
   2-10  have contributed immeasurably to the health and well-being of Texas
   2-11  children; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-13  Legislature hereby commend the members of the La Feria Parental
   2-14  Awareness League for their commitment to the families of their
   2-15  community and extend to them warmest best wishes for many more
   2-16  years of continued success; and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-18  prepared for the La Feria Parental Awareness League as an
   2-19  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
