No. 438 74R8513 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Lois Evans for the many significant contributions she has made to 1-3 the Oak Cliff community and congratulate her on her most recent 1-4 honor as a recipient of the Dallas Baptist University-Oak Cliff 1-5 Partnership's Samaritan Award for Outstanding Christian Service; 1-6 and 1-7 WHEREAS, Mrs. Evans received her bachelor's degree in 1-8 business administration from Dallas Baptist University, and she has 1-9 furthered her education by attending numerous professional seminars 1-10 and by continuing her studies at the graduate level; and 1-11 WHEREAS, She began her distinguished career in religious 1-12 service as a secretary with the Grand Old Gospel Fellowship in 1969 1-13 and worked with the Billy Graham Team Office from 1970 to 1972; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to serving the Lord, she has been 1-15 employed for the past nine years with the Urban Alternative, which 1-16 is an urban outreach ministry; well regarded for her hard work, 1-17 dedication, and skill, she received a series of promotions to 1-18 become assistant to the president, and she continues to offer wise 1-19 and thoughtful guidance as a member of the organization's board of 1-20 directors; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Mrs. Evans also has worked toward the benefit of the 1-22 Christian ministry through her service to several worthy 1-23 organizations, including the Women's Auxiliary Board of Dallas 1-24 Baptist University and the Christian Management Association; she 2-1 also is a member of the Worship Council Board and the Music 2-2 Department at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, where her husband, Dr. 2-3 Anthony T. Evans, serves as pastor; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Moreover, this remarkable lady has sought to share 2-5 her spiritual devotion with countless others through her inspired 2-6 music and has recorded two well-received albums; and 2-7 WHEREAS, A woman of boundless energies and enthusiasm, she 2-8 addresses local business concerns as an esteemed member of 2-9 Leadership Southwest, which is sponsored by the Oak Cliff Chamber 2-10 of Commerce; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Throughout her many endeavors she has enjoyed the 2-12 love and support of her devoted husband and the couple's four 2-13 beloved children, Chrystal, Priscilla, Anthony, and Jonathan; and 2-14 WHEREAS, Mrs. Evans is a woman of great vision and dedication 2-15 who has worked tirelessly for the betterment of her community 2-16 through her exceptional religious service, and she is most worthy 2-17 of special praise and recognition on the occasion of her most 2-18 recent honor; now, therefore, be it 2-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-20 Legislature hereby commend Lois Evans for her outstanding 2-21 commitment to her community and congratulate her on her most recent 2-22 honor as the recipient of the Dallas Baptist University-Oak Cliff 2-23 Partnership's Samaritan Award for Outstanding Christian Service; 2-24 and, be it further 2-25 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-26 prepared for Mrs. Evans as an expression of high regard by the 2-27 Texas House of Representatives.
