H.R. No. 455 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Today, March 22, 1995, represents a significant 1-2 event in the life of Irene Coltharp Leslie, for on this day she 1-3 will celebrate her 90th birthday to the delight of her extensive 1-4 circle of family and friends; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The daughter of James and Adelaine Coltharp, this 1-6 native Texan was born in Edgewood and moved with her family shortly 1-7 thereafter to the community of Terrell, where she has remained in 1-8 the ensuing years; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Having come from a large family, Mrs. Leslie learned 1-10 the value of hard work and adopted her nurturing ways early on, and 1-11 her kindness and genuine interest in the welfare of others have 1-12 followed her throughout her lifetime and earned her a special place 1-13 in the hearts of those whose lives she has touched along the way; 1-14 and 1-15 WHEREAS, In her youth, she became the bride of Clayton Robert 1-16 Leslie and the couple enjoyed a happy and rewarding marriage until 1-17 his passing; though she had no children of her own, Mrs. Leslie is 1-18 regarded as a second mother by her 10 nieces and nephews and adored 1-19 by their 15 children; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Despite having held a demanding position with AT&T 1-21 for 41 years, Mrs. Leslie always made time in her busy schedule to 1-22 befriend people in need of assistance or attention, and she 1-23 continues to put the needs of others before her own today as the 1-24 liveliest nonagenarian in East Texas; on the occasion of her 2-1 birthday, it gives the members of this chamber great pleasure to 2-2 honor this lovely lady at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Irene Coltharp Leslie on the joyous 2-5 occasion of her 90th birthday and extend warmest best wishes to her 2-6 for continued happiness and good fortune in the coming years; and, 2-7 be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mrs. Leslie as an expression of high regard by the 2-10 Texas House of Representatives.
