                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, On Sunday, April 2, 1995, Macedonia Baptist Church
    1-2  of Panola County will observe a significant milestone in its rich
    1-3  history as it commemorates 150 years of outstanding service to its
    1-4  community; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The second-oldest Baptist church in the county,
    1-6  Macedonia Baptist Church has become a favorite local landmark and
    1-7  has consistently played a strong and active role in the spiritual,
    1-8  educational, and civic life of the community it has served since
    1-9  its founding in 1845; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The church's congregation has experienced steady and
   1-11  positive growth through the years and currently comprises 178
   1-12  resident members and a total of 240 enrolled members, who assemble
   1-13  on a regular basis to receive inspiration and guidance on spiritual
   1-14  matters and to share in the teachings of the gospel; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Under the outstanding leadership of Pastor Everett
   1-16  Miller, the congregation has entered into an exceptionally vibrant
   1-17  and rewarding period and its members can indeed look forward to a
   1-18  bright and promising future; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Macedonia Baptist Church stands today as a tribute
   1-20  to the dedication and hard work of its members who through the
   1-21  years have devoted their time, energy, and resources to ensure its
   1-22  continued existence as a house of God; now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-24  Legislature hereby honor Macedonia Baptist Church on the momentous
    2-1  occasion of its sesquicentennial and commend Pastor Everett Miller
    2-2  and the members of his fine congregation for their many significant
    2-3  contributions benefitting their community; and, be it further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-5  prepared for Macedonia Baptist Church as an expression of high
    2-6  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
