No. 511 74R8297 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Lillie Belle Hall on February 19, 1-2 1995, at the age of 87, has brought a great loss to the many 1-3 friends and relatives of this fine lady; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The daughter of John and Reaphy Tabb Brown, 1-5 Mrs. Hall was born February 10, 1908, in Dallas; she received her 1-6 undergraduate degree from Bishop College in Marshall before going 1-7 on to earn a master's degree in English from the Teacher's College 1-8 of Columbia University; and 1-9 WHEREAS, She wed J. D. Hall on June 17, 1935, and the happy 1-10 couple enjoyed a deeply fulfilling union that grew with love and 1-11 respect with each passing year; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Hall began her distinguished career as an 1-13 educator at an early age and taught for 50 years with perfect 1-14 attendance; while serving the communities of Point, Gilmer, and 1-15 Dallas, she encouraged and helped countless young people to reach 1-16 their highest potential and served as an inspiring role model to 1-17 her students; and 1-18 WHEREAS, She also will be remembered as a deeply religious 1-19 woman who received her early spiritual grounding as a member of Mt. 1-20 Rose Baptist Church; she later became a devout member of Good 1-21 Street Baptist Church, and she was active in that congregation for 1-22 many years; and 1-23 WHEREAS, This exceptional woman touched the lives of many 1-24 people during her long and fruitful life, and, though her presence 2-1 will be deeply missed, her memory will endure in the hearts of 2-2 those who came to know and love her; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lillie Belle Hall and 2-5 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her 2-6 beloved husband, J. D. Hall; to her six cousins, Johnnie Lee 2-7 Graves, Phyllis Tucker, Sylvia Woods, E. T. Calviness, T. J. 2-8 Calviness, and Valrie Wright Seay; and to the many other friends 2-9 and relatives of this remarkable lady; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-12 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-13 Lillie Belle Hall.
