                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Lucila Trevino has been chosen for induction into
    1-2  the 1995 Laredo Women's Hall of Fame, and her selection as one of
    1-3  the first women to receive this prestigious honor comes as no
    1-4  surprise to area citizens, for she has long given generously of her
    1-5  time and talents to benefit the community she is proud to call
    1-6  home; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mrs. Trevino was born in Kingsville
    1-8  and as a young woman was graduated from Texas A&I College with a
    1-9  bachelor of science degree in education in 1952; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, That same year, Mrs. Trevino began her outstanding
   1-11  tenure in the field of education as a first grade teacher in San
   1-12  Benito and followed this position with a teaching assignment in
   1-13  Alice; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, She became the bride of fellow educator Vidal M.
   1-15  Trevino in December 1953, and shortly thereafter the newlyweds
   1-16  relocated and began their new life together in Laredo, where
   1-17  Mrs. Trevino accepted a teaching position with Leyendecker
   1-18  Elementary School under the guidance of Aileen Knapp; four years
   1-19  later, she transferred to Ryan Elementary School and has shared her
   1-20  considerable love of learning with generations of Laredo
   1-21  schoolchildren in Room 16 of the school for the past 37 years; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Equally committed to the community as a whole,
   1-23  Mrs. Trevino also is active in the affairs of the Society of Martha
   1-24  Washington, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Blessed Sacrament Church; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Throughout all her endeavors, Mrs. Trevino enjoys
    2-2  the love and support of her husband and her close-knit family,
    2-3  which includes her sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel, Roberto, and
    2-4  David and Marissa Trevino, as well as her daughters, Nelda and
    2-5  Christina, the latter of whom has followed in her parents'
    2-6  footsteps to also pursue a career in the teaching profession; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, During her years in Laredo, Lucila Trevino has
    2-8  demonstrated consistent devotion to the citizens of her community,
    2-9  earning a special place in the heart of all who are privileged to
   2-10  know her; on the occasion of her most recent achievement, it is
   2-11  indeed a great pleasure to honor her for the many significant
   2-12  contributions she has made to the betterment of her community; now,
   2-13  therefore, be it
   2-14        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-15  Legislature hereby congratulate Lucila Trevino on her induction
   2-16  into the 1995 Laredo Women's Hall of Fame and commend her for her
   2-17  impressive achievements; and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-19  prepared for Mrs. Trevino as an expression of highest regard by the
   2-20  Texas House of Representatives.
