                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, While only a handful of teams are able to realize
    1-2  the dream of attaining a state championship in their given sport,
    1-3  fewer still can duplicate such a phenomenal feat; among that elite
    1-4  group are the Stephenville High School Yellow Jackets, who in 1994
    1-5  earned their second consecutive title as University Interscholastic
    1-6  League (UIL) Class 4A football champions; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Renowned for their phenomenal ability to move the
    1-8  football, both the 1993 and 1994 Yellow Jacket squads led the
    1-9  nation in total offense, and those sterling efforts placed
   1-10  Stephenville second and third on the all-time national record list
   1-11  in that category; the 1993 team also set the Class 4A record for
   1-12  total points scored in a season, a mark that was then eclipsed by
   1-13  the 1994 team; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Head coach Art Briles and his dedicated staff have
   1-15  tirelessly labored to hone their players' skills and integrate them
   1-16  into a successful team concept, and their efforts have brought
   1-17  Stephenville High School to the brink of establishing a football
   1-18  dynasty; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The Stephenville players' success has not been
   1-20  limited to the playing field, for during both the 1993 and 1994
   1-21  academic school years, varsity squad members maintained an
   1-22  exceptional overall grade point average that was above 90; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, In addition to providing thrills and excitement to
   1-24  their legions of loyal fans, the Yellow Jackets have focused state
    2-1  and national attention on Stephenville High School and its
    2-2  community; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young men, together with
    2-4  their coaches and staff, have been a tremendous source of pride to
    2-5  the students and faculty of Stephenville High School as well as
    2-6  their many supporters in the community, and their exceptional
    2-7  accomplishments are indeed worthy of special legislative
    2-8  recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-10  Legislature hereby congratulate the Stephenville High School Yellow
   2-11  Jackets on winning the 1994 UIL Class 4A football championship for
   2-12  the second consecutive year and extend sincere best wishes to the
   2-13  team members and their coaches for continued success in the future;
   2-14  and, be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-16  for the team's members and coaching staff and for prominent display
   2-17  at Stephenville High School as an expression of high regard by the
   2-18  Texas House of Representatives.
