                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the Texas House of
    1-2  Representatives pays tribute to the Kennedy Center's Imagination
    1-3  Celebration and Very Special Arts Festival, a unique event that
    1-4  holds the distinction of being the largest free arts festival in
    1-5  North Texas; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Recognizing that art has for centuries played a key
    1-7  role in helping children learn about their cultural, historical,
    1-8  and literary heritage, the Kennedy Center has created this gala
    1-9  event in order to promote the use of art in the classroom and to
   1-10  provide an enriching cultural experience to children and families
   1-11  in the Lone Star State; this outstanding organization will offer
   1-12  free training to North Texas educators and will also organize and
   1-13  develop many innovative arts-in-education programs in our state's
   1-14  schools; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The Kennedy Center's Imagination Celebration will
   1-16  bring art to children who have not had the opportunity to visit
   1-17  museums, attend musical performances, or participate in other
   1-18  diverse cultural events; nearly half of all performances at the
   1-19  festival will be held for schools that serve large numbers of poor
   1-20  students, and children with special needs will comprise an
   1-21  additional 15 percent of those in attendance; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, The Kennedy Center's Imagination Celebration and
   1-23  Very Special Arts Festival will encourage collaboration among
   1-24  cultural, arts, and educational institutions throughout North
    2-1  Texas, and it is indeed fitting that this exceptional event be
    2-2  given special legislative recognition and support for the many fine
    2-3  contributions it has made and will continue to make in the lives of
    2-4  our state's youngest citizens; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-6  Legislature hereby declare April 8, 1995, to be Imagination
    2-7  Celebration Day and commend the sponsors of the Kennedy Center's
    2-8  Imagination Celebration and Very Special Arts Festival for their
    2-9  hard work in behalf of the children of the State of Texas; and, be
   2-10  it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-12  prepared for the sponsors of Imagination Celebration as an
   2-13  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
