                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, On May 6, 1995, the Great Northwest Community
    1-2  Improvement Association of San Antonio will be honored by the
    1-3  Community Associations Institute with this year's Community
    1-4  Association of the Year Award at the group's national conference in
    1-5  Scottsdale, Arizona; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Moreover, Great Northwest is doubly honored as this
    1-7  occasion marks the second time that it has won this prestigious
    1-8  accolade in three years, making the association only the second
    1-9  repeat winner in its category since the contest began; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, This award is truly indicative of the esteem in
   1-11  which the association is held, as Great Northwest was selected from
   1-12  a group of 46 finalists who were culled from regional contests
   1-13  judging excellence in all facets of operation, from facilities
   1-14  management and financial matters to landscape and community
   1-15  involvement; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Based in Alexandria, Virginia, the Community
   1-17  Associations Institute is a nonprofit education and information
   1-18  organization; created 22 years ago to educate and represent the
   1-19  country's residential community association industry, it admirably
   1-20  serves condominium, cooperative, and planned community associations
   1-21  as well as providers of professional services and products; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Great Northwest, a 4,747-unit planned community,
   1-23  received this award for its outstanding commitment to civic
   1-24  involvement throughout the San Antonio metropolitan area; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, In addition to attending association meetings, its
    2-2  many dedicated members have participated in public hearings on the
    2-3  city's transportation projects and are actively involved in a host
    2-4  of other vital community issues; moreover, its service group,
    2-5  A-TEAM, has done an exemplary job in contributing to the city's
    2-6  beautification efforts by adopting a section of local road, working
    2-7  diligently to keep it free from litter and weeds; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Both the residents and the management of the Great
    2-9  Northwest Community Improvement Association have performed a
   2-10  commendable public service by helping to enhance the quality of
   2-11  life throughout the San Antonio community, and they are indeed
   2-12  worthy of special praise and recognition on the occasion of their
   2-13  most recent honor; now, therefore, be it
   2-14        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-15  Legislature hereby honor the Great Northwest Community Improvement
   2-16  Association of San Antonio for earning the 1995 Community
   2-17  Association of the Year Award and commend its members for their
   2-18  outstanding civic involvement; and, be it further
   2-19        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-20  prepared for the Great Northwest Community Improvement Association
   2-21  as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
   2-22  Representatives.
