                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, On April 10, 1995, the Texas House of
    1-2  Representatives is pleased to pay tribute to Donald E. Powell of
    1-3  Amarillo for his appointment to The Texas A&M University Board of
    1-4  Regents; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Donald Powell graduated from West Texas State
    1-6  University in 1963 with a B.S.  degree in economics and went on to
    1-7  the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist
    1-8  University; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, After graduation he worked for First Federal Savings
   1-10  and Loan of Amarillo until 1971, when he went to work with
   1-11  Boatmen's First National Bank of Amarillo, where he is currently
   1-12  chairman of the board and CEO; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, He and his wife, Twanna Powell, are the proud
   1-14  parents of two Texas A&M graduates, Matthew and Mark; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Don Powell has served as a board member for the
   1-16  Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, the Campaign Committee for the United
   1-17  Way, the City of Amarillo Housing Board, the Amarillo Club, and
   1-18  several more local boards; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Currently, he serves as Boatmen's First National
   1-20  Bank chairman and is on the Amarillo College Board of Regents; he
   1-21  works with Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and is a member of the Texas
   1-22  Cattle Feeders Association; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Donald E. Powell is a pillar of the community who
    2-1  has contributed a great deal of his time and energy to public
    2-2  service, demonstrating his high moral character and exemplary
    2-3  leadership skills time and time again; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-5  Legislature hereby congratulate Donald E. Powell for his richly
    2-6  deserved appointment to The Texas A&M University Board of Regents;
    2-7  and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for
    2-9  Donald E. Powell as an expression of high regard and esteem from
   2-10  the Texas House of Representatives.
