                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Bowie High School Lady Rabbits basketball team
    1-2  has reached the pinnacle of success by winning the 1995 University
    1-3  Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 3A state championship; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Boasting a proud tradition of basketball excellence
    1-5  that includes the 1955 state title, this outstanding group of young
    1-6  athletes was determined to overcome all obstacles in their quest to
    1-7  bring their school another championship trophy; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Facing defending Class 3A titlist Dripping Springs
    1-9  High School in the state tournament championship contest, the Lady
   1-10  Rabbits refused to be denied, overwhelming their opponent 65-50 to
   1-11  claim the coveted crown and finish their season with a phenomenal
   1-12  record of 35 wins against only two defeats; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, The season's outstanding accomplishments were a
   1-14  result of total dedication to the team concept by members Rene
   1-15  Hanebutt, Paula Pickett, LeeAnn Richardson, Summer Webb, Christy
   1-16  Bozarth, Mendy Stark, Mendy Stump, Casey Riley, Misty Sutton, Sunni
   1-17  Bratcher, Jennifer Stidham, Terri Sanders, and Harmoni Webb; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Inspirational leadership was the hallmark of head
   1-19  coach Rennie Waldrop, who instilled in his players an unquenchable
   1-20  will to win, and he was ably supported in all his efforts by
   1-21  assistant coaches Diane Beaver and Peggy DeMoss; other invaluable
   1-22  off-the-floor assistance was provided by managers Angie Poe and
   1-23  Teresa Montes and statistician Brenda Waldrop; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young women, together with
    2-1  their coaches and staff, are a tremendous source of pride to the
    2-2  students and faculty of Bowie High School and their many supporters
    2-3  in the community, and their exceptional achievements are truly
    2-4  worthy of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-6  Legislature hereby congratulate the Bowie High School Lady Rabbits
    2-7  basketball team on winning the UIL Class 3A state championship and
    2-8  extend sincere best wishes to the team and its coaches for
    2-9  continued success in the future; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-11  for the team and its coaches and for prominent display at Bowie
   2-12  High School as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
   2-13  Representatives.
