H.R. No. 572 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On March 31, 1995, Bill Calmes retired as postmaster 1-2 of the Aubrey Post Office, drawing to a close an outstanding career 1-3 with the U.S. Postal Service that has spanned more than three 1-4 decades; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native of Dallas County, Mr. Calmes was employed 1-6 as a mail carrier and clerk with the Denton Post Office for 11 1-7 years before moving with his family to Aubrey in 1970; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Shortly thereafter, he was named postmaster of the 1-9 Aubrey Post Office and, in the ensuing years, has ushered in 1-10 numerous advances in technology that have helped to ensure faster 1-11 and more efficient delivery of mail for area residents; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Mr. Calmes and his dedicated 1-13 staff have prided themselves on delivering all first-class mail to 1-14 their customers by 9 a.m. and filling all post office boxes by 9:30 1-15 a.m.; along the way, Mr. Calmes has become a beloved member of his 1-16 community for his warm personality, his prowess as a storyteller, 1-17 and his kindness to many retired local residents who have chosen 1-18 his post office as a friendly place in which to gather for social 1-19 interaction; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Though his daily presence will be greatly missed by 1-21 all who have enjoyed his company through the years, his many 1-22 friends throughout the community will take pleasure in knowing that 1-23 he and his lovely wife, Joann, a retired Aubrey schoolteacher, will 1-24 finally have the time they so richly deserve to pursue their 2-1 interest in traveling and other leisure activities; now, therefore, 2-2 be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Bill Calmes on the occasion of his 2-5 retirement as postmaster of the Aubrey Post Office and honor him 2-6 for the many significant contributions he made to the citizens of 2-7 Aubrey throughout his exemplary career; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mr. Calmes as an expression of high regard by the 2-10 Texas House of Representatives.
