No. 573 74R9724 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On April 30, 1995, Betty Tackett will retire from 1-2 her position as district clerk of Walker County, drawing to a close 1-3 a distinguished tenure in local government that has spanned 40 1-4 years; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Tackett began her career in the public sector 1-6 working at the Nueces County courthouse, where she admirably 1-7 served her fellow citizens for 18 years; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A dedicated and competent public servant, she went 1-9 on to work at the municipal court for four years and quickly 1-10 developed a well-deserved reputation for excellence based on her 1-11 professionalism, expertise, and attention to detail; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Tackett was promoted to district clerk in 1977, 1-13 where she has diligently served her many friends and neighbors 1-14 throughout Walker County for the past 18 years; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Well regarded for her outstanding skills as a 1-16 bookkeeper, she also worked tirelessly to establish and maintain an 1-17 efficient office with limited funds, marshaling her considerable 1-18 energies and talents to acquire much of the office's furniture and 1-19 equipment through donations; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Mrs. Tackett has adapted to the many changes in her 1-21 workplace that have occurred over time, as she has seen the advent 1-22 of computer technology transform many procedures and has observed 1-23 an increased acceptance of women in the workforce; and 1-24 WHEREAS, She is a gracious and charming lady who always has 2-1 made the time in her busy schedule to offer assistance to others 2-2 and has demonstrated a deep and abiding commitment to her staff; 2-3 and 2-4 WHEREAS, Mrs. Tackett looks forward to an active retirement 2-5 and plans to enjoy her favorite activities, including spending time 2-6 with her family, traveling, and doing volunteer work; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Mrs. Tackett's high degree of professionalism and 2-8 genuine commitment to her work throughout her tenure in office have 2-9 served as a source of inspiration to many people, and it is indeed 2-10 appropriate that she receive special legislative recognition on the 2-11 occasion of her retirement; now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-13 Legislature hereby commend Betty Tackett for her exemplary service 2-14 to the citizens of Walker County and extend warmest best wishes to 2-15 her for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-17 prepared for Mrs. Tackett as an expression of high regard by the 2-18 Texas House of Representatives.
