                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Pearland Memorial Post 7109 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW),
    1-3  which celebrated the 25th anniversary of its founding on February
    1-4  26, 1995; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Having been established under the auspices of the
    1-6  VFW, the post was founded to serve as a fraternal, patriotic,
    1-7  historical, and educational organization for its members, who
    1-8  served overseas in the armed forces during times of military
    1-9  conflict, and to provide unwavering support to these veterans and
   1-10  their families; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Pearland Memorial Post 7109 has been joined in its
   1-12  pursuit of the group's worthy goals by an active ladies' auxiliary
   1-13  that will also celebrate the silver anniversary of its founding on
   1-14  May 14, 1995, and the tireless efforts of these patriotic women
   1-15  have greatly contributed to the organization's overall success
   1-16  through the years; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Active in a myriad of worthy community services, the
   1-18  members of Pearland Memorial Post 7109 and its Ladies Auxiliary
   1-19  have participated in fund-raisers to benefit disadvantaged veterans
   1-20  and cancer aid and research, held special programs in observance of
   1-21  Memorial Day, Veterans' Day, Loyalty Day, and Independence Day,
   1-22  sponsored "voice of democracy" scholarship contests for high school
   1-23  students, and provided continuous support to patients at the
   1-24  Veterans Administration Hospital; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, In light of the group's remarkable contributions, it
    2-2  is fitting that Pearland Memorial Post 7109 and its auxiliary be
    2-3  honored on this momentous occasion; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-5  Legislature hereby congratulate Pearland Memorial Post 7109 of the
    2-6  Veterans of Foreign Wars on the silver anniversary of its founding
    2-7  and commend the dedicated members of the post and the Ladies
    2-8  Auxiliary for 25 years of outstanding service to both area veterans
    2-9  and the Pearland community as a whole; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for Pearland Memorial Post 7109 as an expression of high
   2-12  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
