                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Kellye Amason, who was recently crowned Miss Austin for 1995; and
    1-3        WHEREAS, The daughter of Clyde and Glenda Amason, this lovely
    1-4  young woman is currently an honors student enrolled in The
    1-5  University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, which accepted
    1-6  her into its rigorous program one year early based on her excellent
    1-7  grade point average and her extensive community involvement; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A native of Winnsboro, Kellye was graduated
    1-9  valedictorian of her senior class and was voted "Most Likely to
   1-10  Succeed" during her tenure in high school; since beginning her
   1-11  higher education, she has continued to excel in her studies, while
   1-12  making time to give back to the community as a member of Kappa
   1-13  Epsilon, the college's honorary sorority; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Through her activities with Kappa Epsilon, Kellye is
   1-15  heavily involved in many worthy endeavors, including the Pediatric
   1-16  AIDS League of Austin, area nursing homes, and the Children's
   1-17  Hospital of Austin at Brackenridge; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Kellye also is an accomplished motivational speaker
   1-19  who has made presentations to more than 5,000 junior and senior
   1-20  high school students addressing such important issues as goal
   1-21  setting, time management, substance abuse, and the making of
   1-22  healthy choices; in addition, this remarkable young woman has
   1-23  developed an effective poison prevention program designed to keep
   1-24  elementary school students out of harm's way; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, With her warm personality and natural charm, Kellye
    2-2  makes friends quickly wherever she goes; gracious and delightful,
    2-3  she will surely provide admirable representation for Austin as she
    2-4  competes in the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant on July 8, 1995, in
    2-5  Fort Worth; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby congratulate Kellye Amason on being named Miss
    2-8  Austin for 1995 and extend sincere best wishes to her for continued
    2-9  success in her future endeavors; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for Kellye Amason as an expression of high regard by the
   2-12  Texas House of Representatives.
