H.R. No. 604 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of the Honorable William Everett Hart 1-2 has brought a great loss to the many friends and relatives of this 1-3 distinguished Texas jurist; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The son of noted Henderson County pioneers Edwin and 1-5 Alvis Gentry Hart, Judge Hart was born March 26, 1929, in Athens, 1-6 Texas; and 1-7 WHEREAS, He received his undergraduate and law degrees from 1-8 The University of Texas and drew upon his extensive legal skills to 1-9 serve as a member of the United States Army's Judge Advocate 1-10 Division; and 1-11 WHEREAS, This public-spirited Texan later ran for and was 1-12 elected judge of Henderson County, where he served his fellow 1-13 citizens with integrity and distinction from 1958 until 1962; and 1-14 WHEREAS, An accomplished counselor as well, he further served 1-15 his many friends and neighbors as county attorney before embarking 1-16 on a successful career in private practice; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to his chosen profession, Judge 1-18 Hart offered wise and thoughtful guidance as an esteemed member of 1-19 the Henderson County Bar Association; and 1-20 WHEREAS, He was well regarded in political circles for his 1-21 exemplary service to the Democratic Party and capably represented 1-22 the State of Texas as a delegate to the party's national convention 1-23 in 1964; he had many fond memories of serving at that convention, 1-24 which nominated a fellow Texan, Lyndon B. Johnson, as the party's 2-1 candidate for president of the United States; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Throughout his many endeavors, he was nourished by a 2-3 deep and abiding religious faith that he expressed as a devout 2-4 member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church, where he also was a member 2-5 of the vestry; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Judge Hart was a man of great energy and enthusiasm 2-7 who devoted much of his life to serving the needs of his community; 2-8 though his special presence will be deeply missed by all who knew 2-9 him, his unique spirit will surely live on in the hearts and minds 2-10 of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-12 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Judge William Everett 2-13 Hart and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to 2-14 his beloved wife of 36 years, Barbara "Bari" Baker Hart; to his 2-15 sons and daughter-in-law, Edwin Baker Hart and Lindsay Judson and 2-16 Theresa Bacho Hart; to his daughter and son-in-law, Heather Hart 2-17 and Oscar A. Wilkerson IV; to his sisters and brothers-in-law, 2-18 Bettye Glyn and J. D. Padgett and Edwina and Richard Rosson; and to 2-19 the many other friends and relatives of this distinguished 2-20 gentleman; and, be it further 2-21 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-22 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-23 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-24 Judge William Everett Hart.
