                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The seventh grade history class of Lufkin's Dunbar
    1-2  Intermediate School has accomplished a truly remarkable feat by
    1-3  winning the Houston area phase of the Texas State Preservation
    1-4  Board's Capitol Contest; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Open to participation from students across the
    1-6  state, the contest required each class to build a model of the
    1-7  State Capitol and to submit a 250-word essay titled "What the
    1-8  Capitol Means to Me," and the Dunbar Intermediate School project
    1-9  was superior in both areas of competition; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The members of the class, who devoted 200 hours to
   1-11  the preparation of this project, include Dustin Beckman, Katherine
   1-12  Davidson, Kristin Davis, Audra Doggett, Stephanie Drouet, Nicholas
   1-13  Ellis, Wesley Graham, Curtis Harris, Craig Ivy, Sara Kaemmerling,
   1-14  Patrick Leslie, Noah Longino, Kavita Modi, Jeremy Montgomery,
   1-15  Elliot New, Rebecca Phillips, Erin Roth, Ashley Schultz, Cameron
   1-16  Slack, Cara Sprague, Michael Swearingen, Carlos Tovar, Johnny
   1-17  Williams, Marcus Wilson, and Rachelle Wood; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Encouraging her students to learn more about their
   1-19  State Capitol was the goal of teacher Helen Connor who, with the
   1-20  aid of student teacher Amy Parker, provided exemplary guidance to
   1-21  her young charges during the course of their instructive labors and
   1-22  selected Ashley Schultz's excellent essay as the class's contest
   1-23  entry; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, For their award-winning project, these outstanding
    2-1  scholars have been flown here to attend Capitol rededication events
    2-2  and to see firsthand the newly restored building that has inspired
    2-3  their endeavors; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, These fine young Texans have demonstrated the
    2-5  qualities of dedication and teamwork that are at the core of any
    2-6  successful venture and their exceptional efforts on this worthy
    2-7  project indeed merit special legislative recognition; now,
    2-8  therefore, be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-10  Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the seventh grade
   2-11  history class at Dunbar Intermediate School for their superior
   2-12  achievement in winning the Houston area phase of the Texas State
   2-13  Preservation Board's Capitol Contest and offer them a warm welcome
   2-14  on the occasion of their visit to the Texas Capitol; and, be it
   2-15  further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-17  prepared for the class and for prominent display at Dunbar
   2-18  Intermediate School as an expression of high regard by the Texas
   2-19  House of Representatives.
