                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  the Texas Young Democrats on the occasion of the group's 1995
    1-3  convention, which will be held April 21-23 in Austin; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Founded in 1933, this exceptional organization is
    1-5  chartered through the Young Democrats of America; it boasts nearly
    1-6  50 chapters with members between the ages of 14 and 35 from all
    1-7  parts of the Lone Star State and includes city, county, high
    1-8  school, and college chapters; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Young Democrats tirelessly
   1-10  dedicate their time and energies to the promotion of positive
   1-11  change in the political arena at the local, state, and federal
   1-12  levels of government; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Among the many aspects of the political process in
   1-14  which members of the Texas Young Democrats take part are political
   1-15  campaigns, fund-raisers, and voter registration drives; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, In order to be successful, our democratic form of
   1-17  government requires the active participation of the citizenry, and
   1-18  by encouraging young Texans to take full advantage of the cherished
   1-19  liberties on which our nation was founded, the Texas Young
   1-20  Democrats has performed a service truly worthy of special
   1-21  legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   1-22        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-23  Legislature hereby commend the Texas Young Democrats on the
   1-24  organization's many exemplary accomplishments and welcome the
    2-1  members to the State Capitol on the occasion of their 1995
    2-2  convention; and, be it further
    2-3        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-4  prepared for the Texas Young Democrats as an expression of high
    2-5  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
