H.R. No. 646 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The recent death of Richard Taylor on April 1, 1995, 1-2 at the age of 66, has brought a great loss to the many friends, 1-3 relatives, and colleagues of this exceptional Texan; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born in Fort Worth, Mr. Taylor was a lifelong 1-5 resident of Tarrant County who made countless contributions toward 1-6 making his community, state, and nation better places in which to 1-7 work, live, and raise a family; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A graduate of Northside High School in Fort Worth, 1-9 this outstanding gentleman served his country with valor and 1-10 distinction as a member of the United States Navy; he also 1-11 performed many important services toward the betterment of his 1-12 fellowman as a devoted Mason; and 1-13 WHEREAS, An influential force in the Tarrant County financial 1-14 community, Mr. Taylor began his career in 1947 at the First 1-15 National Bank of Fort Worth and only nine years later opened his 1-16 first financial institution, the Hurst State Bank, which he sold in 1-17 1974 to Texas Commerce Bancshares; over the years he watched this 1-18 bank grow from a hometown lending institution to an impersonal 1-19 member of a large chain, and he grew steadfastly determined to open 1-20 another bank to serve the families and small businesses of Tarrant 1-21 County; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor spent three years raising the $1.75 1-23 million needed to realize his dream, and soon thereafter the 1-24 Mid-Cities National Bank opened its doors to the public; this 2-1 financial institution was a resounding success for its employees, 2-2 investors, and customers, and although the bank is a $47 million 2-3 institution today, it remains firmly committed to providing the 2-4 utmost in personalized service to its many appreciative customers; 2-5 and 2-6 WHEREAS, In spite of these many professional accomplishments, 2-7 Mr. Taylor found the time to become an avid horseman and golfer; 2-8 above all else, however, he was a devoted family man who enjoyed a 2-9 richly rewarding marriage with his wife, Lois, and who took immense 2-10 pride in his six children and five grandchildren; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to know this special man 2-12 will not soon forget the warmth, compassion, and commitment he 2-13 brought to each facet of his life, and although his presence is 2-14 gone from us now, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts 2-15 of all those whose lives he touched during his years on this earth; 2-16 now, therefore, be it 2-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-18 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard Taylor and 2-19 extend profound sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-20 wife, Lois Taylor of Bedford; to his sons, Les Farrington of 2-21 Decatur, Mitchell Farrington of Fort Worth, and Steve Farrington of 2-22 Bedford; to his daughters, Belinda Black of Brownwood, Angela 2-23 Beavers of Watauga, and Patti Taylor of Dallas; to his brother, Joe 2-24 Paul Taylor of Fort Worth; to his grandchildren; and to his many 2-25 other friends and relatives; and, be it further 2-26 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-27 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 3-1 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 3-2 Richard Taylor.
