R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, In his quest to establish a new world record,
1-2 Brenham resident James L. Campbell is traveling throughout the
1-3 Lone Star State to recruit 48,000 Texans who will help him create a
1-4 single panoramic painting depicting rural life in early Texas; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Campbell's ambitious project is only the latest
1-6 in a long line of artistic and professional achievements that have
1-7 brought great pride to his family, community, and state; a
1-8 contemporary Western artist whose works are currently on display at
1-9 fine art galleries in Texas, Missouri, and Wyoming, this
1-10 outstanding Texan has won national acclaim for his distinctive
1-11 paintings and for his work in the fields of photography and
1-12 commercial art; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Mr. Campbell gained his formal art training at the
1-14 Kansas City Art Institute and the Maryland Institute College of Art
1-15 and is a graduate of Corpus Christi State University; a successful
1-16 commercial artist, he has worked with many leading newspapers and
1-17 advertising agencies around the country as a photographer,
1-18 syndicated cartoonist, art director, and marketing director; and
1-19 WHEREAS, Over the course of his impressive career, this
1-20 exemplary artist has garnered countless honors and awards from such
1-21 organizations as the Texas Press Association, Associated Press
1-22 Managing Editors, American Association of Advertising Agencies, and
1-23 International Newspaper Marketing Association; and
1-24 WHEREAS, Devoting much of his time and talent toward the
2-1 betterment of his community, Mr. Campbell has served as a director
2-2 of the Arkansas Valley Audubon Society in Colorado, as the
2-3 promotion and public relations chairman for the Orange County
2-4 Cerebral Palsy Association in New York, and as a director and
2-5 participant of numerous fundraising events around the nation; his
2-6 most recent endeavor, the attempt to break a world record for
2-7 multiple creators of a single painting, will help raise money for
2-8 local civic and charitable organizations throughout the state; and
2-9 WHEREAS, In light of Mr. Campbell's many impressive artistic
2-10 and professional accomplishments, it is indeed appropriate that he
2-11 receive special legislative recognition and support; now,
2-12 therefore, be it
2-13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
2-14 Legislature hereby honor James L. Campbell for his many outstanding
2-15 contributions to the State of Texas and extend to him warmest best
2-16 wishes for success in his endeavor to set a new world record; and,
2-17 be it further
2-18 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-19 prepared for Mr. Campbell as an expression of high regard by the
2-20 Texas House of Representatives.
