                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  the historic community of College Mound and the College Mound
    1-3  Methodist Church on the momentous occasion of the 150th anniversary
    1-4  of their founding; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, College Mound, located in Kaufman County, has
    1-6  throughout its rich history been a close-knit community whose
    1-7  citizens were united by their devotion to each other and to their
    1-8  church; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, On the fourth Sunday of April each year, the College
   1-10  Mound Cemetery Association welcomes local residents to the
   1-11  cemetery's lovely grounds for its Annual Decoration Day, and this
   1-12  year's event, which takes place on April 23, carries with it
   1-13  special significance for it coincides with the 150th anniversary of
   1-14  the founding of the church and the community; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, From the Rio Grande to the High Plains, all Texans
   1-16  take a great sense of pride in their community's unique heritage,
   1-17  and the efforts of those individuals who strive to preserve and
   1-18  honor their forebears are indeed worthy of special legislative
   1-19  recognition; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-21  Legislature hereby commemorate the 150th anniversary of the
   1-22  founding of the community of College Mound and the College Mound
   1-23  Methodist Church; and, be it further
   1-24        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-1  prepared for the College Mound Cemetery Association as an
    2-2  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
