H.R. No. 683 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Tarrant County B'nai B'rith for its outstanding community service 1-3 and joins with the citizens of Fort Worth in commemorating the 1-4 dedication of the Tarrant County B'nai B'rith Apartments on April 1-5 30, 1995; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Now in its 151st year, B'nai B'rith is the oldest 1-7 charitable organization in America; members of this international 1-8 Jewish organization are committed to providing community service 1-9 based on the broadest principles of humanity; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The organization is especially proud of the 1-11 nonsectarian services it provides, and for more than 20 years, it 1-12 has worked with the United States Department of Housing and Urban 1-13 Development to provide rental apartments for senior citizens who 1-14 live on limited incomes; today, the group sponsors 32 apartment 1-15 buildings in 23 communities across the nation, and its more than 1-16 4,600 apartment units serve nearly 5,000 individuals; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Its housing projects are planned and implemented by 1-18 local organizations under the guidelines of the B'nai B'rith Senior 1-19 Citizens Housing Committee, whose many dedicated volunteers work 1-20 tirelessly to ensure that the buildings remain vital and evolving 1-21 facilities that respond to the needs of their residents; to that 1-22 end, the organization plans a variety of special events and 1-23 activities for the benefit of residents and B'nai B'rith members 1-24 alike; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Tarrant County B'nai B'rith Apartments is a 2-2 three-story, 60-unit senior citizen community that was cosponsored 2-3 by Isadore Garsek Lodge of B'nai B'rith to meet the growing need 2-4 for high-quality affordable housing for Fort Worth's elderly; and 2-5 WHEREAS, The complex's wooded grounds and lush landscaping 2-6 provide a lovely and relaxing vista for its residents, and each 2-7 unit offers a wide array of outstanding amenities; the apartment 2-8 complex is accessible to all Texans, and several units have been 2-9 specially adapted for the mobility impaired; and 2-10 WHEREAS, A unique enclosed hallway joins the community rooms 2-11 of the otherwise separate B'nai B'rith Apartments and the adjacent 2-12 Mollie and Max Barnett Apartments, providing a wealth of 2-13 opportunities for friends and neighbors to meet and socialize; and 2-14 WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history, B'nai B'rith has 2-15 contributed immensely to the social fiber of this great state and 2-16 the nation, and the opening of the Tarrant County B'nai B'rith 2-17 Apartments will enable it to continue to serve the needs of North 2-18 Central Texans well into the coming century; now, therefore, be it 2-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th 2-20 Texas Legislature hereby commend B'nai B'rith for its outstanding 2-21 record of community involvement and join the citizens of Fort Worth 2-22 in commemorating the dedication of the Tarrant County B'nai B'rith 2-23 Apartments; and, be it further 2-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-25 prepared for prominent display at Tarrant County B'nai B'rith 2-26 Apartments as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of 2-27 Representatives.
